Every Particular Way

Found 35mm Film, 2020-ongoing

This body of work began when I inherited undeveloped rolls of film from my grandfather after his death. Once processed, many frames revealed abstract anomalies that felt more compelling than the intended images. When the film ran out, I sought more—finding undeveloped rolls in thrift stores, antique shops, and garage sales. Processing them produced occasional images, but more often moments where photography failed against it’s intended purpose– to preserve memories. This work explores the liminal space between exposure and development. This film holds the forgotten. What is released through processing is not a memory, or even a full image, but possibilities of what could have been.  **Click to expand image
